Lewis discovered Kismet while working on a project at Duke University in their Islamic Studies Center. The project, entitled ISLAMiCommentary, looked at both good and bad depictions of Muslims and Islam is all mediums. Lewis focused his research on comics.

Today, Kismet lives in the Greater Boston area. To bring Kismet from World War II France to Massachusetts, Lewis pulled a Captain America, placing the superhero in suspended animation until the 2016 presidential election.
